Car Air Conditioning - Malton

At H M Services in Malton, North Yorkshire, we provide expert car air conditioning servicing, re-gassing, and repairs, for all makes and models, including hybrid vehicles.

Our technicians have extensive experience working with both major types of refrigerant gases – R134a and R1234yf – ensuring every job meets the latest standards, efficiently and affordably.

Understanding air conditioning gases

Most vehicles built before 2017 use R134a, a reliable and cost-effective gas still found in many cars today.  Newer models, especially those built after 2017, use R1234yf, an environmentally friendly refrigerant that requires specialist equipment.  At H M Services, we’re fully equipped to service systems using either gas type.

Why your car’s air conditioning may not be working properly

If your air conditioning isn’t blowing as cold as it should, it could simply need recharging or re-gassing.  Sometimes, a leak or blocked component can cause performance issues – H M Services’ team can quickly diagnose and repair the problem using advanced diagnostic tools.  Most issues can be resolved in a single visit, getting you back on the road with a fully functional air conditioning system.

How often should you recharge your vehicle’s air conditioning?

Manufacturers recommend servicing or recharging your vehicle’s air conditioning at least every two years.  Regular use also helps prevent mould, unpleasant odours, and system wear.  Running your air conditioning for 10-15 minutes weekly – even in winter – keeps it lubricated and operating efficiently.  Neglecting air con maintenance can lead to reduced cooling, fogged windscreens, and costly component damage.
